Dear Church Family,
Many of you have been with us since January of 2016 in the Cedar Mountain School gym, where a faithful band of volunteers would arrive at 7:30am to begin unloading the trailer and transforming a grade school gymnasium into a space where we can worship God together.
As God’s plan would have it, we found ourselves having to find a new space to worship in, all in a matter of a few weeks. As God’s kindness would have it, the lease that we had been working on with with Episcopal Diocese of Newark for nearly a year, was finally signed and we had five weeks to renovate and move into the building we are in now. That was June 11, 2017.
Now I write to you on the cusp of another chapter in Highlands Bible Church. As attendance has risen once again to pre-COVID levels, we find ourselves out of parking, out of space for kids/youth ministry and nearly out of seats in the sanctuary. We are also still planning on bringing on another pastor and office space would be needed. An exciting problem to have and we are very grateful to God for his grace, and for faithful people who have always risen to meet the need. But…it’s time to make a plan for what’s next.
As you may have heard, the Elders announced at the November 21st Member Meeting that we are kicking off the plan to begin raising funds for the next chapter. We don’t know exactly what that will look like, but we do know that it is time to mobilize in faith for what God has next.
To that end, we would humbly ask you to consider giving to the Nehemiah Fund as a special gift that is over and above your regular giving. Our goal is to have $1 million in the next three years. We also will use this time to diligently seek the Lord’s will in moving ahead, so please join us in prayer for wisdom and discernment.
If you would like to give by check please write “Nehemiah Fund” on the memo line, or if you’d like to give online, please select “Nehemiah Fund” from the fund selection drop down.
And join with me in anticipation of what the Lord will do in the next chapter of Highlands!
Pastor Mike for the Elders
